RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY!!!!

We are so used to being smug about how great our weather is in LA and how perfect we have it (most of the year) and how awful the weather is everywhere else. Unfortunately.....the weather gods are now getting even. RAIN, RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!!!! It's been raining all day (sorry - 1 day of rain in LA feels like a month) and more is expected thru the next several days. Every road is flooding and it just continues to pour. In fact - it feels like it's raining CATS AND DOGS - BOL! Neither Angus nor I wants to go outside. We have become so incredibly comfortable with having sunshine almost every day of the year AND having nice warm weather that 60 and rain makes it seem like we are living in Barrow, Alaska!! So - for those of you who deal with this all year long - our sympathy. We will hunker down here and keep looking to the heavens hoping the sun pops out soon.

The Loss of a Beloved Family Member

Our family is sadly now one less. This past Monday, we had to say goodbye to one of our feline sisters - Tasha. After surviving a hypertensive crisis 16 months ago with subsequent heart failure and blindness, T&J finally knew it was time to have her cross the rainbow bridge. Up until a week ago she'd been doing great. Moving all around the house, eating, sleeping and hanging out with us. But she quickly got worse and so they did the the best they could by her and said goodbye. Thank you, thank you to Cozycroft Hospital!! Their compassion and gentleness are so appreciated by us all. Tasha was 14 1/2 yrs old and has been with our family since she and her sister Deanna were kittens. In fact T&J brought them to California from Maryland. She was a mute cat and put up with her crazy sister who would alternate between being nice and being nasty. Tasha was gently and loving and everyone loved her. She was white and grey - in fact there was a grey mark on her side that looked like Mickey Mouse. We miss her greatly and have shed tears for our loss, but also know that she is now happy and full of life and is with others who have gone before her - in fact we're sure Rocky was there to meet her.

What a Day for America and the World!!!!!

Well - today has been the most amazing day!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is Inauguration Day - January 20, 2009. As J is writing this blog for us (remember - we have no fingers to write with), we are all watching the Inauguration coverage. It is a very emotional time. Our hearts swell with pride and joy and anticipation. We think today is a day to celebrate what it is to be an American. J worked all day but stopped and took pictures of the coverage on her TV. Here are a couple pictures from her picture taking efforts. To get a better sense of what the past few days have been like, go to J's sister's blog ---- D has been in Washington, DC since Sunday and has just soaked up every possible moment. Go to www.mermaidcottages.blogspot.com God Bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Were They Thinking????

OK - so I always thought that humans were smart..... WRONG! Our humans - T, J, C, R decided that it would be fun to go to Disneyland the day after Xmas. Boy, are we glad that pets aren't allowed! They arrived around 12:30 in the afternoon and got parking at the very farthest parking spot in the entire Disney complex. In fact, it was so far away the trams didn't even go there! Once they finally got inside the park, they realised that almost every person living and/or visiting Southern California was also there including the USC and Penn State football teams. That's right - it was Rose Bowl Media Day as well..... But despite the crowds, they all had loads of fun. They even got to ride on a couple all time Disney favorites - The Jungle Cruise (an homage to us - the 4 legged members of the family) and the Tiki Room - boy - I would have loved to have been in that room with all of those talking birds. I can watch birds FOREVER!! So - Happy New Year to one and all.... the 4 legged and 2 legged kind. Rosie and Angus

Merry Christmas to All!

Wow! Christmas was great!! Sorry we haven't written on our blog for a couple weeks but it's been a whirlwind..... It was so nice to finally be able to sit back, be with our family and just relax. We had such a nice Christmas. It was really cold (OK it was really cold for LA - mid 50's) but it rained almost the entire day. LOVED THAT!! It made all of us feel like we could just sit around, spend time together and do absolutely nothing. I (Rosie) was a bit confused by all of the gift unwrapping and paper flying everywhere but it sure was fun once I figured it all out. In fact I got a brand new tennis ball for Christmas and was so excited. I'm including a picture of me with my ball in a box. FUN!!! Angus had a great day too. Grandma made scarves for all of the humans. We're also including a picture of Angus checking one out and wishing he got a scarf too! But we got to eat extra food - brisket and macaroni and cheese... we don't get extra treats like that very often so it was an extra special treat. Today T, J and boys are going to Disneyland. Happiest Place on Earth!!! They haven't gone in almost 9 years and it apparently "snows" on Main Street in the evening. Can't wait to hear about their day. Angus and I plan to just hang out and continue to recover from our fabulous holiday.

Working Hard or Hardly Working.....

OK - You decide --- are we working hard? Or hardly working? We go to work each day with J. She's lucky enough to be able to work at home so every morning after breakfast, we "commute" to work with her.... we head down the hallway to her office. Then we spend the day with her. We take our lunch break at the same time and then when her computer shuts down at the end of each day, we jump up when we hear it and then "commute" home. Ah - it definately is a dog's life. PS - Only 11 days until Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Santa is Coming!

We can't believe it's December 3rd already! Wasn't it just Thanksgiving? That's OK. Christmas is J's favorite holiday in all the world. In fact, she tells me that she and T got married a week before Xmas (December 17th to be exact) just because they love the holidays so much. This year is their 25th wedding anniversary. WOW! That's a really long time but it has been quite a wonderful ride so far with many more years to come. We just want to share a few pictures of how our house is looking with all of the merriment. J & R made a gingerbread tree and the decorating outside looks just great. As the sign by the front door says..... Santa is Coming!
